Food Blog Spotlight: Custom Cakes by Rainbow Nourishments (Raw Vegan Cake Maker)

Was watching a health infomercial and the gentleman was supplying a recipe for a cake.  He showed the cake and then said we wouldn't believe what the ingredients were.  Have to admit when I saw the recipe I thought that cake was the best disguise I've ever seen.  Indeed, until I had to change my eating habits, it never occurred to me that so many foods that I loved to eat could be prepared in a completely different way and still be enjoyed.  Who knew?

Evidently, the vegans knew and were way ahead with this knowledge.  In one of my previous posts, I shared my love of cake ("Which Cultures Make the Best Cakes?").  Today while surfing the Internet, stumbled across these wonderful creations by a food blogger named Anthea, who published a blog is RainbowNourishments.com.  She makes custom cakes.  Sure!  There are a lot of custom cake makers out there.  But this lady specializes in raw vegan cakes that are indescribable!

Pink dragon fruit layer cake

This recipe captures pretty much everything that I love about cakes. I love taking a bite of a sponge cake and squashing the air out of it in my mouth (ok, that sounds weird and confronting, but it's the truth so I'll stick with it). I love the simplicity and smoothness of raw cakes.

Acai Bowl Cheesecakes

Smoothie bowls are a staple in my diet as they are quick to make, delicious and can be made out of pantry/freezer ingredients. Smoothie bowls are normally thick smoothies poured into bowls, made with some sort of frozen fruit, and topped with things like granola, fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, coconut...

Rainbow nicecream cake

Whoever invented nicecream (aka icecr eam made of blended bananas) is a genius.I thought: what if I could combine my current favourite food (nicecream) with my favourite concept (rainbows) into something that could enjoy at ANY time of the day. This marbled nicecream cake reminds me that adults CAN have fun with their food.

Michelle Wibowo's Sugar Art Is More Than Precious!

Thank you for stopping by. We apologize but the content you are looking for, though originally published here, was accepted by the Editors at Vocal.Media.

Food historians say sugar art dates as far back as 4000 B.C.  In the 17th century, Catholic friars taught Mexicans how to use sugar to create ornaments and decorations used in Day of the Dead celebrations.

♦ From 4000 B.C. ... Fast Forward to the 20th Century

Michelle Wibowo, took the technique of sugar art to an entirely new level by creating and/or recreating incredible edible sugar sculptures.  She recreated Michaelangelo's famous painting, 'The Creation of Adam', using marshmallows and sprinkles.

Food Ways thinks she should be called the "Sugar Artist of the Century".

Foodie Friday: Upside Down Cakes

Do you remember when you first learned how to cook?  Do you remember when you made a dish or a dessert that you thought was impossible to make with your limited culinary skills but when you followed the recipe you ACED IT!!

I remember when I made my first Pineapple Upside Cake.

I was a teenager and I was trying to teach myself how to prepare meals for my family, including dessert. I was quite proud of my cake even though I used a cake mix. I had not realized that the part of the recipe I thought was the most difficult ~ that is, getting the pineapple on the bottom to be on the top.  It was so easy! Once I learned what to do I started thinking: 'I can probably do this same recipe with fruit other than pineapple.'  I thought that but I've never done it! I'm not sure what fruit I would substitute for the pineapple.  Although I have seen a cooking videos upside down cakes for other than pineapple.

Below is a link to a great recipe for pineapple upside down cake, if you have never baked one.  And ...???  I'm just curious.  If you have already made such a cake, have you ever made an upside down cake with a fruit other than pineapple??  Mango? Nectarines? Peaches?  Bananas? Apples? Rhubarb?  Some exotic fruit that grows in abundance where you live?

Which Countries or Cultures Make the Best Cakes? Let's Discuss!

Which Countries or Cultures Make the Best Cakes? Would love to hear your thoughts on this foodie topic.  My husband says when it comes to baking, nobody beats out the Greeks and the Jews. Not that I'm a cake connoisseur, but I am tempted to agree with him; especially about the Greeks.  Did you know the Greeks invented cheesecake and that we have them to thank for the tradition of the birthday cake?

Sorry to say cake baking is not my forte. But I do love a great cake. It would be right to say that cake loving IS my forte.  💗

Honestly! If Queen Marie Antoinette had really said “Let them eat cake!” and I had been in earshot distance, I would have been “Where?!! Where??!! Where's the cake??!!”

Recently, I've been coming across recipes shared by my online friends from different countries and also from food newsletters that I subscribe to and it's got me dreaming and wishing I could enjoy all of these wonderful baked delights without having to concern myself with the possible ill effects of consuming too much sugar. Alas! There is diabetes in my family line and I just don't want to take any chances.

Most of the time, I enjoy cakes by just looking at them or maybe taste a teeny weeny sample. ☺

But some cakes are far too pretty and unusual to eat. Don't you think?  Like these incredible jelly cakes.

Stunning Edible Flower Jelly Cakes Blooming in Your Plate

These gorgeous jelly cakes came from 'La Floraison' in Sydney Australia. Like a Japanese rainbow cake these confections are almost too pretty to eat.

Some cakes are not even cakes. They're masterpieces. Works of art!

And then some cakes are dummy cakes. Dummy cakes? Yeah. Also called Fake Cakes.  New term I learned.  Apparently they have become popular at weddings as the wedding cake.  Check out this article in the New York Times about NY Cake.  Not edible but the artwork is incredible! 😆

But we all have our preferences and there is not one person in the world who can say that their specific food taste is “the right food taste”.

What about you? Do you 💗 cake?
If you were going to sing praises about a country or a culture that makes the best cakes what would your choice be?

I'd love to hear your picks.
Do you agree or disagree with my husband?

MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

Food Blog Spotlight: Honey Chai Cake Recipe | Arabic Food (Reblog)

Are you curious about global flavors?  You have wanderlust but can't wander too far because your travel budget is extremely limited?  Describing myself, of course.  My travel adventures are accomplished mainly through the Internet and television.  Was watching a TV cooking show and the host asked one of his guests who was a world traveler, which part of the world had the "best food" (in his opinion).  He said he enjoyed food prepared in the Middle East.

Arabic Food I

Connecting the dots.

Several months back, began using the Google+ collections feature to maintain a collection of posts and links related to World Cuisine.  In the process, stumbled across the Arabic Food Recipes blog.  My husband and kids are turned on to chai tea. Even though I am a coffee fiend, having been encouraged by them to try a cup, it's very easy to understand why they are chai tea lovers.  At the aforementioned food blog found a cake recipe and thought to myself:

  • 'Chai tea is delicious. Why not chai cake?'
(See link shared below.)

Here is another thing to note about this blog.  When many of us are enjoying the holiday season, we say "Happy Holidays" to others.  Why?  It's not to be anti-Christmas.  America is a diverse nation.  Some folks do not celebrate Christmas.  But they do celebrate a holiday!  This blog has holiday recipes for Christmas, EID, and Ramadan.  Cool huh?

Food Blog Spotlight: A Cook @ Heart: A basket (cake) of flowers! (Reblog)

I started publishing this blog in 2016. As of May 2020, seven (7) of my posts are specifically related to cakes. (See below.)  I am always looking for cakes. Not only are they a delicious and luscious dessert but many times they are works of art. You almost don't want to eat them. Fortunately, many people take photographs of their artistic culinary creations BEFORE they are devoured.

My search for fellow food bloggers on the Blogspot blog publishing platform led me to this post. A Cook @ Heart: A basket (cake) of flowers!  Isn't this cake gorgeous?!!  You can tell by the comments left at this post that the blog visitors were ecstatic!!

This wonderful blog's posts archive dates back to 2006.  You could spend months exploring the content.  OR ... just use the handy Recipe Index and search for cake!  ☺🎂

Box Cake Mix or Cake From Scratch - Throw Down!

American TV personality Martha Stewart is the richest and most famous housekeeper/homemaker divas in the world.  Various reports put Ms. Stewart's occupation “Businesswoman”.  It should say “Phenomenal Businesswoman par Excellence”.  In 2011, Forbes.com reported her net worth at $638 million; and in 2017, it was $970 million.

Image found on Pixabay.

On her Martha Bakes TV series, Ms. Stewart teaches you how to make all sorts of wonderful culinary delights, especially cakes, from scratch.

Jill Nystul, not as well-known as Ms. Stewart, but a diva in her own right, shares her tips on how to enhance a basic cake mix and turn your efforts into Crave-Worthy Cakes.

Stewart versus Nystul?
I'm in Nystul's corner.

Let "em Eat Cake! Cake Loving Finds on My Instagram

One good thing leads to another. Started my day scrolling through posts by Tumblr bloggers that I follow. One blogger who loves French inspiration and French inspired things led me to a vintage picture of petit fours. From there the web opened its doors and I found these gorgeous cakes. Shared first via my Instagram account. But since some of my Food Ways subscribers don't follow me via social media, I'm resharing the content here. Please enjoy.
