Foodie Friday: What is your favorite sweet treat? (Mine is cheesecake.)

We all like a delightful sweet treat every once in a while. Call it a guilty pleasure. Call it an indulgence. Call it pampering yourself because you earned it, you deserve it, you're worth it!

There are so many different reasons for enjoying a sweet treat AND there are so many different sweet treats to choose from. Surely everyone has a favorite. Mine is cheesecake.

There was once a time when I could just say cheesecake. But now the question is asked: Americancheesecake or Japanese cheesecake? I'm like: WHAT??

OK. So now my response is modified. My favorite sweet treat is American cheesecake. Although, Japanese cheesecake is pretty good too!

Cheesecake is my favorite sweet treat. What's yours?

  1. Cheesecake (American or Japanese)
  2. Ice cream or Sherbet
  3. Popsicles
  4. Pudding
  5. Candy
  6. Jello
  7. Chocolate ANYTHING!
  8. Pie or Cake (other than cheesecake)
  9. Not on the list (See comments)
  10. Don't like sweet. Prefer SALTY.
Please leave comments.

With the exception of one of the tweet shares, the rest of the tweets focus on Japanese cheesecake (in case you're interested).

Holi Festival Recipes ~ Sweets

Several years ago I was active in an online community which had many members who hail from India.  Many of them celebrate a festival called Holi which usually occurs during the month of March (although I have seen some say April).  Although I am not Hindu, I do like the idea behind this holiday tradition as it is a celebration of love, happiness, and colors.  Who wouldn't want to celebrate that, regardless of our diverse religious beliefs?

I read some of the members' posts and noted that one writer expressed great enthusiasm about the “sweets” they enjoyed during this holiday. So? So you guessed it! I went on a hunt for Holi recipes. No surprise that I was able to find plenty at popular food blogs that I already like and follow from time to time.

Can You Name 5 British Desserts? (NO Googling!)

My youngest child is practicing (and hopefully improving) her writing skills. She picked a random topic and did some research.  The topic was British desserts, subject matter which she definitely had to find out about on her own because:

(A) Her American mother was clueless.
(B) Even though her father is from The Bahamas - which at one time was beholden to the Queen of England - Bahamian food is in no way a reflection of British cuisine.  In other words, he was also clueless.

(Arctic Roll)

Was pleasantly surprised with the results of her search.
Has anybody ever tried any of these treats?
Can you name 5 more British desserts?
(Supplied a link below if you can't think of any.)
  1. Arctic Roll
  2. Bakewell Tart
  3. Eton Mess
  4. Flies Graveyard
  5. Rock Cake
Flies Graveyard?? Sounds perfect for celebrating Halloween.
